How to use this cubic meters calculator

Why the Load Efficiency Factor matters
A container’s raw volume is never fully usable. Pallets, gaps between irregular shapes, and stacking limits all reduce how much actually fits. The Load Efficiency Factor lets you discount the container’s raw volume to a more realistic usable figure instead of assuming perfect packing, which is rarely how a real shipment loads.
Estimating freight cost
Once you have a Total Volume, the Cost Estimator applies either a Freight Rate per m³ for volume-based pricing, or a Flat Rate per Full Container when a carrier charges a fixed price regardless of how full the container is. Comparing both against your actual shipment volume shows which pricing structure works out cheaper.

This calculator gives you estimates. Actual carrier volumetric rules, dunnage, and stacking constraints may vary, so confirm final numbers with your freight provider before booking.

What shapes does this cubic meters calculator support?
It’s built for rectangular boxes and cartons, the most common shape in shipping and storage. If your item isn’t a simple box, measure its bounding box dimensions (the smallest rectangular box it would fit inside) for a usable estimate.
Can I mix units, like entering length in feet and height in centimeters?
Yes. Each dimension field has its own unit selector, so you can enter measurements exactly as you have them and the calculator converts everything to a consistent unit before calculating volume.
